Employers Resource Forgoes Christmas Party in Lieu of Charity
Staffers at Employers Resource in Raleigh decided to donate their Christmas party budget and volunteer for the Raleigh Rescue Mission's 2nd Annual Merry Movie Marathon


RALEIGH, NC, December 26, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- While planning their Christmas office party, staffers at Employers Resource hit on an atypical idea - donate their Christmas budget and time to a worthy cause. They decided to volunteer for the Raleigh Rescue Mission's 2nd Annual Merry Movie Marathon. The event provides an opportunity for guests of the mission to enjoy a pizza dinner and holiday movies.

"Merry Movie Marathon is an idea we came up with to help make the holidays a little brighter for our guests. The holidays can be an emotionally difficult time for our residents and we wanted to bring some laughter and smiles to their faces," said Leslie Currin, director of public relations.

William Webb, business development manager for Employers Resource, said the decision to donate and volunteer time was an easy call.

"Given the economic times, we unanimously decided to give our Christmas party funds to a cause that truly has greater needs than us," Webb said. "It's great to give to this fantastic cause, and truly rewarding to volunteer."
